Adding in Me Time
Mental health has been a hot topic recently, but something I’ve always had a hard time with, me time. Especially with a busy holiday season, where I’m working two jobs, me time is few and far between. If I’m being honest with myself, this is pretty typical though. I struggle with taking “me time”.

We’ve seen with the past few years, how important our mental health is. I’ve focused a bit on physical health. However, mental health is just as important, if not more important.
Yesterday, my kids read a paired passage on anxiety and physical health. They were shocked to learn that their mental health plays such a large part in their physical health. From feeling like you’re nauseous, to working out excessively, mental health can have such a huge impact on your body.
Adding in some me time is something that I want to do because I know I need it. I ended up getting a booster on Saturday and had side effects all day on Sunday. However, this also meant that Sunday became a forced “me day”.
Now, me time does not mean that you have to sit in your bed all day (even though, it was nice).
You can also try these things:
- Set aside time to watch your favorite sport, tv show, or movie.
- Take time for your favorite exercise-whether it’s yoga, spin, horseback ride, or a walk. Schedule that time.
- Listen to a podcast, audiobook, or read a book.
- Take up a new hobby. Y’all knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, blogging, podcasting, there are so many hobbies to try!
- Have a spa day! Paint your nails, do an at home facial, etc. So much fun and a great way to relax.
- Journal. Spend time journaling every day. I thought about this a little bit, I use my planner a bit like a journal. Additionally, I have a journal where I write down my prayers. The notebook I have is similar to this-I bought my individually though.
- Research something new that you want to learn more about.
You should avoid triggers or things that will end up costing a lot of money. For instance, I know shopping destresses me; however, it is not good for my wallet for me to stress shop.
At the end of the day, the most important thing you can do, is do something that makes you happy!
xx,
Lindsey
