    April 2020 Book Chat

Hi y’all, Can you believe that April is over?!? It seems like it flew by! I just finished my grad school semester and have about a 6 week break before the Summer term starts. Since I’ve had a little bit more time on my hands, I’ve been reading non-stop.   Some of these are by authors I love. Others were recommended or were free on the Apple Bookstore. I did read a few on the Libby App (any I got from the Libby app, I noted it so you know where to find it). Falling for You: A Sweet, Small Romance by Leeanna Morgan 5/5 Stars Natalie Armstrong, an artist,…

    Be Green

Hi y’all, As you know, our new normal is looking vastly different than what our lives used to look like. There have been a lot of reports about how the earth is healing itself since there is less pollution with people staying home more. While, I’ve put together a list of ways you can continue to work toward being green during this global pandemic. I am not a science expert. I’m simply sharing what I know about and some basic ways to help the environment during this time. Use reusable containers or materials. Daily Walk + Trails in Virginia

Hi y’all, It’s no secret I love a good walk. In fact, my daily walk is one of the few things that keeps me sane when I can’t go to the gym or cycle class at Zoom. While Beachbody workouts are great, and I truly enjoy doing them. Plus, there are tons of alternative options on Youtube, on Obe Fitness. However, sometimes I don’t want to do a guided workout. I live in central…

    Favorite Stay at Home Activities

Hi y’all, With this stay-at-home order in place in Virginia until June 10th, I figured I better figure out some things to do. While I still have to give students lessons and get my own grad school work done, I still have a little more time on my hands than usual. After the next few weeks, I’ll have a month and a half until my next “semester” aka summer session of grad school starts. Here’s how I’ve been occupying my time when I haven’t been studying or working: Harry Potter marathons. Bless you, USA and Syfy for having my back on this one. I also realized we never bought the…

    Shop Local

Hi y’all, As you’ve probably noticed, there are people barking down the door for you to shop local right now. With many stores and gyms closed to the public, or only allowing a certain number of customers in at a time, it is so important to shop local. What does it mean to shop local? It means supporting businesses in your local community. What jumps to mind are the traditional family-owned businesses in your town. Yes, this is true; however, corporate stores still need your money and many corporations act like each individual store is “local”. For instance, a store that is corporate still needs to make their rent and…
