    Kindness

Hi y’all, As many of you know, I teach 5th grade, which means I end up teaching kindness. This week I did a really cool lesson kindness that was super simple, but very thought provoking. It was even thought provoking for me as an adult. I took a blank piece of paper and put it on the ground in front of me. I gave one quarter of a paper to each of my students. We all wrote down one thing we have either said to someone, or someone has said to us. It could be something mean or it could be something kind. We then crumpled up the papers into…

Bachelor Season 24: The 4th “Drama” Filled Rose

Hi y’all, If you haven’t caught up on this episode of The Bachelor, let me save you 2 hours of your life:Peter goes on a one-on-one with Victoria F. They go flying, to Cedar Point amusement park, and to a….Chase Rice concert. Awkward considering Victoria F. used to date Chase Rice. Then, Peter went on a group date with everyone except Victoria F. and Kelsey. For the group date, they play football. Football goes alright. The real story comes when Alayah comes back to tell the truth to Peter. I’m still not entirely sure what the truth of all of these situations is. Peter ends up giving a rose to Alayah…

    Dates Aren’t Found on Apps

Hi y’all, Dating apps are all the range. Most of your friends have them or tried them. You probably have too. Being in Charlottesville, there are actually not a ton of eligible men hanging around, or if there are, I’m looking in the wrong places. So, I asked my friend one night after watching The Bachelor if she thought the TV show or dating apps would be more helpful. Keep in mind, neither of us have applied/have been on The Bachelor. Of course, this is when I found out she’s never used a dating app, and she suggested this blog post. I feel like there are 2 major dating apps…

    Outfit Under $50

Hi y’all, As you saw in this post, I’m working on budgeting and saving. I was talking with my best friend, Lili, and she asked me how I go about styling outfits. Then, I quickly asked what’s the budget? $50. So, each outfit will be made up of pieces $50 or less, and can be worn multiple ways so you can get multiple outfits out of your purchase. I love basics that can be worn a lot of different ways. As a teacher, my kids notice when I wear something constantly, and they will tell me when I wore something last. I will say that I tend to shop at…

The Third Rose: Bachelor Week 3

Hi y’all, This week a lot happened. I’ve already done recaps and thoughts on Week 1 and Week 2. What Went Down: Date 1: One on One Dancing Date with Victoria P.Date 2: Demi’s Pillow Fight Group Date“Date” 3/Cocktail Party: Pool Party (that wasn’t a pool party) Overall, this was really the Alayah show and not The Bachelor. I feel bad for Peter that these girls are acting the way they are. I also feel bad that he has these girls to pick from. This episode was honestly a waste of an episode. The girls sat around and talked in their little cliques, and then Peter took some of them…

    Savings over Spending

Hi y’all, In case you don’t know, I am trying super hard to save money. I recently went to a Financial Literacy seminar held by a sustainer of the Junior League. While this particular seminar focused more on purchasing stock in companies that were “sustainable”. At the end of December, I sat down and made myself a monthly budget for 2020. In Charlottesville it is super expensive to live. The average cost of an apartment is about $1500 a month, without utilities or anything included. I’m single and teacher meaning that I have to really watch my monthly income (I only get paid once a month). I also know I’m…

How to Succeed in Online Classes

Hi y’all, As you know if you read my post about Spilling the Tea, I’m officially a grad student in an online program through the University of Virginia. I also earned by Teaching License through a hybrid program through Mary Baldwin University. This meant my classes were either completely online or a mixture of in class and online meetings. This is after graduating from Christopher Newport University, a traditional four year school, that only has in person classes. For the most part online classes seem to follow the same pattern: weekly reading with an online discussion, which you have to make a minimum of 2 posts in (one where you…

    The Bachelor Recap Week 2

Hi y’all, This week The Bachelor got more intense as we knew it would.Last week, Peter met his girls (and a literal cow), had a few dates, and sent some girls home.As y’all saw in last week’s post, I wasn’t overly thrilled with the girls. Here’s a quick recap: The group date gets cancelled after some stuff with Hannah Brown. He then meets and gives the girls some talk time. There was a whole mess with a bottle of champagne (literally and figuratively). Rose ceremony, and then the fashion show date. My thoughts: >Kelsey’s Champagne bottle deal-I get it, it was rough to see someone (Hannah Ann) drinking your champagne…

    Lilly Pulitzer Resort Release

Hi Y’all, As I mentioned in my APS post, I’ve been a Lilly lover since I was a wee one. Well, yesterday was Lilly’s last resort release. This means Spring is coming! I’ve picked a few pieces from this release that I love. This release is full of purple/light lilac which is often not my best color, but this collection is stunning. 1. Dillon Pullover || This was a must have item for my closet. I can honestly say I have nothing like it in my closet. Plus, it goes perfectly with leggings and jeans. This fits very true to size. 2. Short Sleeve Bay Dress || I LOVE the Bay…

    January Book Club

Hi y’all, If you know me, I love to read. Hands down it is one of my favorite activities. I’ve been reading a bunch of books on my iPad recently since I’ve been a little lazy in getting to the library. Luckily, my library does have a great deal with one of the e-book places where you can get “library books” via e-books. I know Carly the Prespster and Caitlin from Southern Pearls and Curls write posts about their favorite books every so often, and I thoroughly enjoy reading them, followed quickly by trying to get my hands on the books! While I would personally love to sit down and…
