Classroom Set Up 2022-2023

Classroom set up time is here!

This is my 5th year teaching 5th grade; but only my 4th year in this room. We spent one year at the middle school…I’m so fortunate to have a room that has so many windows, and I rarely have the overhead lights on during the school year.

I showed y’all some of my classroom favorites here and I keep a running list of things I use here. There is also a list of clothes for school and other things that I love! Disclaimer, I do make a commission if you purchase using these links.

Setting up my classroom is one of my favorite things to do. This year is fun because our students can be closer together, and I’m looking forward to all the collaboration this can bring!

I’ve also been seeing a lot of tiktok videos about creating a classroom community. I saw one video where the teacher gives students notecards, and they have to pair the notecards up to match to see if it’s a fact about her or not. For instance, it could say “Ms. Martin has 1…” and the answer would “cat”. I love this since it also has students using their inferencing and comprehension skills!

For my classroom set up this year, I have been keeping the community in mind! I saved space for sitting on the floor (even though there is no rug!). Also, I use CHAMPS to help keep students on track, so I made sure to configure them in “teams”. This way, I can easily switch these to rows if I need to (and I might do this anyway).

I also have been spending my free time this summer making notes for Math and Science. I’m *almost* done with math, and I have a few more 5th grade Science units to do before I switch to 4th grade standards for Science. These are all available on my TPT and classful stores, and I plan on adding more!

What are you excited for this school year?

xx,

Lindsey
