November 2021 Book Chat
Welcome to this month’s book chat! Y’all, I actually already wrote this post and then went to switch my URL hosting service and realized the post had disappeared. Honestly, I thought maybe I didn’t write it and I just planned it out so thoroughly in my head that I thought I did. Then, I found the graphic I made and realized it had just disappeared.
I’ve been taking full advantage of being done with grad school and have been reading a ton. One of my favorite things about my iPad is that new books are just a click away. I get most of my books on the normal books app that comes on it. I love that there is a free section that changes weekly. My second favorite place to go is the Libby book app.
Book chats are some of my favorite posts of mine to write. I love reading, so getting to share newer books that I’ve read is so much fun for me. You can find some other book chats here and here.

Playboy Prince & Grumpy Prince by Lili Valente
3.5/5 stars. These are the first two books in the series. The stories are of two princesses (in name only) and their quests to find true love.
I really liked these two books but my complaint is that these books ended up being predictable. I loved the plotline, it was pretty easy to figure out how the stories were going to end.
There is a third book in the series, but I haven’t read it yet.
Wild Card by Lila Monroe
5/5 stars. Olivia is a matchmaker. Not for dates, she’s just trying to make sure you have someone to go to all your events with. Ryan is an ex-football player trying to make it in the business world. He needs the perfect person and Olivia is having a hard time finding that girl for Ryan. Olivia’s world is rocked when her ex-college roommate announces she’s marrying Olivia’s dad.
I love this story. There are so many twists and turns and I love how everyone’s story is wrapped up. I love how the plotline keeps you guessing and keeps the reader engaged. Everything is so believable and it’s so easy to put yourself in Olivia’s shoes.
Cheat Code, End Game, Cheap Trick, Side Hustle, Fight Dirty, Rock Bottom by Emily Goodwin
5+/5 stars. This is the Dawson family stories. Each one focuses on a different member of the Dawson family and their significant others.
I think my favorite books are Cheat Code and Rock Bottom. However, they are all fantastic books. I loved getting to know the entire Dawson family and experiencing their lives. I cannot recommend these books enough. If I talk about these books too much I will give things away, but I loved how these books did not have generic storylines and kept you guessing.
Lock ‘n’ Load by Tee O’Fallon
4/5 stars. This book is the story of CIA analyst Tricia Gold. She becomes the target of a bad guy when she stumbles across something while doing research for her job. Enter Matt Connors. He’s a K-9 officer assigned to the CIA building. He is going home when he sees Tricia get taken. Connors has work to do, but will Tricia just keep putting herself in harms way?
I really enjoyed this book. It’s very Criminal Minds meets law enforcement. The book was enjoyable to read and I loved how the storyline was fresh and didn’t seem like a re-make of every other book.
Security Breach by Evan Grace
4/5 stars. One night. Little did I know that one night would mean that I would end up in my new boss’s life forever. My boss’s daughter is pregnant. I’m the father. Now, her life is in danger.
I really enjoyed this book. Again, the ending was slightly predictable, but it was still a good book. I loved how the storyline was for the most part pretty unique and I loved how different events and relationships showed up in the book.
Made for this Moment by Madison Prewett
2/5 stars. If you’ve watched Peter’s season of The Bachelor, you know who Madison Prewett is. She’s the Christian girl who was a pretty small player up until the overnight. During the overnight/”Fantasy Suite” night, Madi turned Peter down and walked away. Why? His actions were not lining up with her beliefs and that was important to her. I’m a big Madi fan. I think it’s awesome that she stood with her convictions. I don’t know many 23-year-olds that would do that on national t.v. This book is about some of the life lessons she’s learned from her journey on the show and also through life.
I had a really hard time getting into this book. In fact, I didn’t even finish it. I think part of it is that the book wasn’t what I was expecting. I think if you’re looking for a Christian self-help type book you’d like this book a lot. However, I was expecting it to be more like storytime instead of more of a gospel/preachy book.
I always link the Amazon links just so everyone can have access to the books, regardless of if you have an iPad or a different device that you use. However, every book that is listed here can be found on the Apple Books app.
I’m planning out content for the rest of December and the new year, so if you have something you want to see, make sure to leave it in a comment!
xx,
Lindsey
