The holidays can be one of the most stressful times of the year for various reasons. I’m a big goal setter in general. I set new goals every year. I also have goals to complete over a period of time like over 101 days. However, I check in periodically and make sure that I’m on track.

Have an accountability person.

Have someone you can constantly talk to that keep you on track. Bonus, it really helps if they’re trying to reach a similar goal so they are also invested in it for themselves. For me, I ask my friends to help me out!

Keep a reminder nearby.

Keep your goal posted on your phone or somewhere else, like a mirror, that you look at all the time. I keep the records for myself in an app on my phone. I find it useful to also right down how far I’ve come. For me, I’m trying to lose weight, so I make sure that I can see how far I’ve come since I really started focusing on it.

Keep the goal consistent.

This is not the time to start a new goal. Focus on what you’ve already begun working on or maintaining. For instance, I’m not going to suddenly change my goal to lose 20 pounds. Instead, I’m going to focus on eating in moderation and working out in some way every day. Keep in mind, that for me success in working out means moving my body.

Write down your why + be ready to explain it.

Now, family is great. However, family time often means that people are going to judge you for your goal, and your success. This is especially true if they have not been on your journey with you the whole time. However, when they say “why would you want to do that?” have an answer and they won’t know what to do in response.

Believe in yourself.

Keep believing in yourself. You are your own biggest advocate and biggest supporter. Give yourself daily affirmations, even if you have a minor setback. Remember, most goals you will not reach in a lateral line, but instead of bumps along the way to your success. Instead of being discouraged, allow yourself to work a little harder or give yourself grace. It’s okay no matter which you decide to do. Remember, you can do anything you set your mind to!

What are your goals right now?
