Teaching Tuesday: Job Hunting
Hi Y’all,
It’s that time of the year where teachers are hunting jobs for the next school year.
Me included. I thought I would write a post about my job hunt experience.
Find a teaching job is both easy and hard. Once you fill out an online profile for one district, chances are another district you’ll be applying to uses the same system. Plus, once you’ve filled out the generic answers, hitting the “apply” button to every potential job you’re interested in goes really quickly.
This has pretty much been the story of my life for the past few weeks: see job, find out distance from potential living quarters, hit apply. Wait for interview.
Over and over again.
Obviously, I’m not 100% sure where I’ll be living. However, I always look at the pay scale (this is public knowledge and you can find it on the district’s main website under Human Resources). This way, you’ll know about how much you’ll be paid, and thus where you can afford to live.
Fortunately, I do not have a significant other at this time, so I have a broader job search than most. While, I would love to stay close to my family; I am also realistic about having a job.
I’m currently waiting on interviews, and I know that the districts I’m applying to have rift lists as well, meaning my wait could be a little longer than most.
Are you a teacher hunting a job? How’s it going for you?
xx,
Lindsey Elizabeth

I am crossing my fingers that you will find a great teaching position soon, or that if the wait takes a little longer it’s because the perfect job has a longer wait! Keep at it!! I applied to SO many jobs in both my job hunts this year and last but perseverance pays off.
